Looking Back
I have been looking back on my first post thinking about how my writing has improved a great deal . I guess that means practice makes perfect. I quickly noticed that my writing was not as detailed as it is now. I also noticed that I was often jumping from one thing to a whole other thing within one sentence. I would say things like then I did this and then I did that all the time. Quite often each sentence talked about something different, and as I look into my newer posts the ideas flow into each other much better.
I’m really happy that Mrs.Braidwood taught us how to be good writers and commenters through blogging! Blogging has taught us to remember to check over our spelling, work and to use lots of details in our writing. Since the beginning of the year I have noticed that blogging has been getting easier than ever, and Mrs.Braidwood has not been having to change my post as much as she did in the beginning of the year. I am so happy with my blogging that I am going to keep my blog over the summer!

New year back track
Like many people, I made a New Year’s Resolution. Now I’m here to tell you what I accomplished. Our New Year’s Resolution had four sections. The four sections were school, personal, community and global.
My school goal was to get a blog post published by Mrs.Braidwood without it having to be changed. I haven’t gotten that yet but teacher assistants have published my posts without changing them in the last week or so!
My personal goal was to spend more time with family and friends. I have been doing that, however, I don’t really even know why I had that as a New Year’s Resolution. I spend lots of time with my family already, but I have been spending more time with friends!
My community goal was to never litter. I have not littered since we did the New Year Resolutions.
My global goal was to use less energy. I have been double checking to make sure I turn lights off when I’m done.
That was my new year back track for this year. Comment if you want to share what you did with your Rew Year’s Resolutions!

Aquarium
Our class had a big field trip were we went to the Vancouver Aquarium! We only stayed for one night, but that was good enough for me. I was so excited the day before our field trip I ran home from school got all my stuff together, I brought my clothes, tooth brush, hair brush, camera, sleeping bag, pillow and a lot more. I was so happy that the morning of the field trip I wanted to run to school too! But I had so much stuff I could barely walk so I got a ride from my mom. We left for the field trip after school… which I don’t think was a good idea. Think about waiting all day long for something this exciting.
When we finally left I was driving with Rachel, her mom and Mrs.Mac my favourite teacher assistant. We all drove to the fairy In at least an hour, including a stop at Booster Juice! When we got to the fairy we were a head of everyone else so we went inside the fairy terminal gift shop,Rachel bought a necklace that was a watch. It was really pretty, and I wanted to get one but my money was only for my lunch and breakfast.
We got on the ferry and we looked around for the class, and we went up the elevator with Mrs.Mac. We found some of the class in the seating section. I decided to get some lunch. Some people went to the arcade and some went on the sky deck. Later I went on the sky deck with Rachel. It was so windy but we barley had time to go up there because before we knew it we had to get off the ferry!
We went to Rachel‘s grandma and grandpa’s house for a bit then we hurried to the Aquarium and finally we got there. Then the sleepover program started. First we were in the wet lab and we got to touch real live crabs and sea creatures. Then after an hour it was time for the buffet. It wasn’t that good, but it was okay. Then we went to the Amazon section it was really hot in there! There were all these weird fish and other stuff, even a crocodile!
Then it was time to see the beluga’s and they were really cute. We got to sleep beside them, but I could not sleep, it was so cool. Then I fell asleep! I woke up and we ate breakfast and It was good. We had about a hour to our self. We first walked to the little kid stuff. It was locked though, so we had to move on to something else, so we went outside. There were dolphins! I loved to watched them. I even took a video of them but something happened to my camera so I only had eleven seconds of video. So I got a video of one swimming. I heard someone saying that the gift shop was open! I was happy just to look around. I found somethings I would like but I remembered that I only had ten dollars for the fairy ride home.
We had to go back home then. I was a bit sad but I was happy to go home. We got on the ferry and first I got something to eat. I felt like going up on the sky deck so I went up there with a teacher. I was a bit upset because it was not as windy as most of the time. We got back at the end of the day. I was happy to be back, and I had a great time at the Aquarium.
What was your best class field trip?

Out or In? Kitty Dabate!
The
debate over having a indoor cat or a in or out cat is never ending. Some people are strict on keeping their cats as inside cats and healthy. Or others are fine with their cat coming and going as they please. I have two cats a male and female named Charlie and Penny. Our family lets them go in and out as they want. Because we know it is safe for them to play out side!
But it wasn’t always like this. Before I moved here, our cats were inside cats. I had two cats die from being outside. Cinnamon was a cat I was too young to remember but I hear stories. All our neighbors liked her, but one day she got in a garage and ate poison. My dad rushed her to the vet but did not make it in time. My other cat I had was Oscar. I really liked him He was fussy, cute and orange! He was an outside cat. Our neighborhood was not safe for a out side cat we lived in fear of a day that Oscar would not come home. one night he didn’t in the morning my mom was looking for him. she found him! But only his dead body we cried. Later that month we got Charlie. Then we moved to a neighborhood were there were not really any cars. Now our cats are outside cats.
When you have a outside cat you should make sure of a few things:
- To have flee free gel that you put on your cat(behind the neck)
- To make sure of no poisons being around your backyard
- To have all their vaccines
- If the cat gets in to many fights keep it inside
- tell all neighbors that your cats outside
When you are having a cat outside there is a risk! But what if you’re stuck inside all day? What would you want?

The Comox Valley
I live in the Comox Valley. It has several really nice towns and has lots of places to see. In the summer, we have a few great sandy beaches and some rock beaches and there are some great rivers to go tubing in. My favourite place to go when the weather is nice is Stokum Falls. Stokum Falls is a big pool of water with a very small currant pulling you closer to the waterfall. But there are many rocks to hold on to!
There are many places to go during the winter too, like going up to Mount Washington for some skiing or snowboarding. You could go to the ice rink and skate for bit, play some hockey or just build a snowman.
One of my favourite things about the Valley is the beautiful views of the glaciers. What’s your favourite thing about the area you live in?

A Three Way Blog.
This year my class has been blogging and we have signed up for our second blogging challenge! I think my blog is going quite good, and I’m not going to run out of ideas any time soon.
I called my post a three way blog because on my blog I write about three things:
- Pets and animals
- Events in my personal life
- Assigned posts from my teacher
My posts about pets and about my life are my choice posts. My other posts are assigned posts. I enjoy writing either but I perfer writng my choice posts. Our class usually has to write at least one choice post per week and assigned posts are ones that Mrs. Braidwood asks us to write.
I think my blog is worth visting because there are many things you can learn about pets on my blog. You can also see what my class and I are learning about, and a bit about my life! Do you have a blog? If so tell me what its about!

My Poem
Our class is learning about poems using things like personification, simile, metaphor, onomatopoeia, and alliteration. They all are used in poems and stories. So Mrs.Braidwood got us all to do poems using them all in the one poem. My poem is about a forest storm. It is free verse peom so it doesn’t ryme.
Forest Storm
It was a Dark and stormy night
The oak tree shook with fear
The thunder grew louder
BOOM!
All night long
The storm was a lost soul
trying to find a way
through anger
the forest floor flooded
like an over flowing bathtub
hope comes now
with the morning sun.

Why Use Avatars
This is another post for challenge 2.
I think that there are times that it is acceptable to put a picture of yourself online but you have to be safe about it. Don’t tag the people unless you’ve asked them first. I think that avatars are a good idea and they make blogging and commenting a lot safer for everyone. I think it is fun to make avatars too, but I still make them look a little bit like me . Then people have a small idea about how I look. The real idea of using avatars is to keep you safe. If you have your picture linked somewhere people can see who you are and maybe figure out where you live.
When do you think its okay to use pictures of yourself?
A New Language for Us
Our class is using a web cam and Skype to to communicate with a class in New Zealand. We thought of questions then asked them to Mr.Webb’s class! A mihi is a greeting that Maori people traditonally use. The vocaroo is a recording of me trying to say the mihi. The mihi includes things about your class, the mountain you lived by and the river.
